Winter Blues – Moments For Mental Health

As the weather becomes dreary, you would not be alone in feeling the ‘winter blues’.  Maz discusses with Counsellor Jaymi how the weather affects our mood. While the winter blues is a milder version of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) – an extreme case of depression affected by the seasons – there are ways for us to manage it.

The winter blues is commonly caused by the lack of sunlight. This, in effect, decreases the amount of serotonin production. While vitamin D supplements can help, they are not the solution or better than sunlight.
