Gospo Collective – Whitney: The Greatest Love of All Review

Gospo Collective wowed a near sell-out crowd for their second and final Adelaide Fringe Gluttony season of ‘Whitney: The Greatest Love of All,’ directed by the incredibly talented Charmaine Jones. The ensemble performed Houston’s greatest hits, opening with ‘Jesus Loves Me’ from The Bodyguard and followed by the likes of ‘I’m Every Woman,’ ‘Higher Love,’ ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ and power ballad ‘I Have Nothing,’ creating the perfect synergy of gospel and pop with a large sprinkling of glitter.

Despite the intense heat outside The Flamingo at Gluttony, the Collective – formed by a key group of singers joining Jones in the forefront, supported by dozens of backing singers, as well as many young children – never waivered in their energy and connection to the music through melody and dance, and were greeted by a standing ovation.

4 stars.
