Christmas love really is all around Adelaide!

Words: Mary-Anne Maio Images: Oliver Phillips

There are few live experiences that are so well orchestrated (see what I did there? ðŸ˜‰) as watching one of the most well-loved Christmas films of all time on the big screen, accompanied by a full symphony orchestra. Adelaide was treated to just this when the annual Love Actually in Concert event came to town on Friday December 16th at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

For its third year in Adelaide since 2019 (not playing in 2020 due to Covid-19), this near sell-out event saw a new tradition continue for many, myself included!

Having attended the first Love Actually in Concert event in Adelaide in 2019 with my best friend at the time and now boyfriend (who’s also accompanied me to every session since), it has become a part of our annual Christmas celebration.

Was Love Actually in Concert in 2019 where our love first bloomed? Perhaps! One thing I am sure of, though, is that this production is unlike anything I’ve every experienced. There’s no more unique way to watch one of your absolute favourites than with the accompaniment of a full live orchestra.

All I really want for Christmas next year is for the event directors, Spritworks, Senbla, Tim Woods and Dale Harrison, to bring not only Love Actually in Concert back to Adelaide, but a myriad of other Christmas classics accompanied by a live orchestra, in somewhat of a ‘Christmas film festival.’ I’m thinking ‘Home Alone,’ ‘The Grinch’ and ‘The Holiday,’ just to name a few. Just a suggestion. I’ll definitely put my hand up to help make it happen! ðŸ˜‰
