At Life FM, we love to celebrate those who are doing amazing work in the community. Below is a list of the wonderful people who have won our Heart for Adelaide Award. Support them in any way you can - whether visiting a small business, volunteering, or donating to further their causes.


Carols Behind Bars

Volunteer carollers from across Adelaide that group together to share songs and bring the Christmas spirit to prisoners. The group also bake enough biscuits to fill a bag for each prisoner as a gift.

Gwen's Pantry

Run out of the Edwardstown Baptist Church by volunteers that provide essential food items for people in need, or to simply enjoy a coffee and a chat.

The Repair Café- Campbelltown

A group of volunteers that carry out repairs to household items free of charge. A part of a global movement for people to get help to fix, mend and repair household items rather than sending them to landfill.


Container of Hope

A mission that send 40 foot shipping containers full of donated and recycled goods to assist poor and vulnerable communities around the world. Their volunteers donate hours of service in collecting, sorting and packing the donations needed for the containers.

David Edwards and Rassilon the greyhound

Together they regularly visit Noarlunga Hospital to cheer up cancer patients. In 2018 more than 2500 patients enjoyed a visit from David and his 6 year old rescue dog Rassilon! The pair also visit community centres and nursing homes.

Hair Aid Community Cuts

An Australian charity where volunteer hairdressers teach people in critical poverty all over the world, how to cut hair, so they can earn money and live. They also work with community groups, charities, government organisations and churches that support the homes, domestic violence sufferers, migrants or those just in need to provide free haircuts, providing dignity and respect. In October 2018 a team of 26 hairdressers achieved the national record with 231 haircuts at the Junction Community Centre.

Heartfelt Australia

A volunteer organisation of professional photographers from all over Australia and New Zealand, dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families which have experienced stillbirths, premature births, or have children with serious and terminal illnesses.

Living Faith Cares

Part of the Living Faith Church in St Agnes. Volunteers care for families in the community in a practical way by providing food hampers for those in need, workshops for cooking, household hints, budgeting, an Op Shop and always a friendly face to talk to.

Puddle Jumpers Inc

A not for profit charity that provide services to hundreds of vulnerable children and their families. Run with 100% volunteers providing camps, activities & mentoring. Also helping people doing it tough providing community food nights, groceries, clothing, books and toys.

St Richard’s Anglican Church

Each year the congregation at St Richard’s Anglican Church have a “Socks and Jocks Appeal” where they collect new socks and underwear for adults and children which they give to Anglicare to disperse to the needy across Adelaide. Their project is a loving response to those who struggle to be able to afford new underwear and go without.


Boomerang Bags - Adelaide

This crafty group of volunteers make re-usable bags from pre-loved materials as a means to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. It’s more than reducing plastic it’s all about connection, conversation and community. What started as a small group on the Gold Coast is now 700 groups in 20 countries!

Café Hope Elizabeth Church of Christ

A ministry that use their kitchen to build relationships with the community. Meals are made by volunteers and then distributed to feed the homeless. People in need and go to organisations that do similar work.

Kairos Outside for Women

An interdenominational Christian ministry reaching out to women and their families impacted by the imprisonment of a family member or friend to bring meaning and hope in the place of loneliness, isolation and despair. Through weekend retreats and ongoing personal support groups with ministry give opportunities for families to interact with others without shame or judgement.

KIK Coffee

A program established to create job opportunities and experience for the youth through their KIK Coffee Cafes. Every coffee you buy you help to KIK youth unemployment.

Lost Dogs of Adelaide

Volunteers that provide a free service for the community committed to reuniting pets and owners across SA. A registered charity running both a Facebook page to post lost and found pets and a Search and Rescue team that assist with transport, temporary care of misplaced animals and emergency vet treatment for those that need it.

Thread Together SA Team

A dedicated group of volunteers provide clothing for men and women in need. They spend many hours sorting and packing clothing. They also sew, making beautiful bags for the clothes to be given away in. End of season stock in Sydney is distributed to dozens of charity partners across Australia. Clothing worth more than $4 million has been distributed to more than 50,000 people over the 6 years of operation.


Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry Bags

A wonderful group of very talented volunteers who put their dewing skills together for a good cause. Making quilts and laundry bags for our Aussie servicemen and women currently serving overseas.

Backpacks 4 SA Kids

This team of dedicated volunteers help pack and provide clothes and personal supplies to children placed in emergency foster care, domestic violence shelters and who are under duress. The backpacks they provide help to relieve some of the stress and anxiety children face when they are removed from their family, often in traumatic situations and without the opportunity to take any personal belongings with them.

Cosy Classic Collection

A dedicated group of volunteers who work together to bring fun affordable family entertainment to the local community. The team put on movies at the Woodville Town Hall at various times, doing the ushering, ticketing, run the candy bar etc.

Greyhound Adoption Program SA Volunteers

Volunteers that provide a loving home prior to adoption in order to help these retired racing dogs to adjust to life in a domestic environment in preparation for a forever home.

Just Brass

Just Brass provides Brass tuition at no cost to the school or to the participants enabling disadvantaged students an opportunity to learn and enjoy music. Primary students from 8 years and older are given a half hour lesson in the school and once a week are transported from school by bus to a nearby Salvation Army Hall for a band practice. Students are provided with a brass instrument, music books, music bag and a t-shirt to wear when performing all on loan for the program and all at free of cost.

KittyKat Angel Rescue

A dedicated group of volunteers who open up their homes, providing love and the best care for abandoned street cats until they are adopted into their furrever home. They provide vet care, desexing and vaccinated before adoption.

Schools Ministry Group Volunteers

Volunteers support Chaplaincy by volunteering in their local school with activities like the breakfast club, lunch programs, mentoring, craft, sausage sizzles, garage sales to raise funds and help in administration.

Volunteers at Resthaven

Volunteers play a vital role in supporting and enriching the lives of older people. It is a chance to form strong friendships and be valued for what they do.

Welcome Salisbury

A group that assist people who have recently arrived in Australia and are looking for English classes and friendship. They share food and play games weekly.
