Why Sleep Matters
Sleep is the foundation of everything we do. It supports memory, cognitive function, and overall well-being, even though scientists still don’t fully understand all of its effects. At different stages of life, however, maintaining consistent sleep can be difficult.
When we rely on caffeine, energy drinks, and other stimulants to compensate for ongoing sleep deprivation, it can feel manageable for a while, but only up to a point. Persistent sleep issues without an obvious cause are important to address and may require professional support.
In this conversation, Lorrene from Moments to Rest and Maz discuss practical ways to improve sleep, including managing both the timing and amount of caffeine intake. They also explore the role of light exposure, particularly morning light, which helps regulate cortisol and melatonin production to support the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.
