Taking Care of Your Mental Health Postpartum

Maz was recently joined by clinical psychologist Sarah Bilan for their segment Hope for the Future. This week, Maz and Sarah chatted about postpartum mental health. Giving birth and having a baby brings huge physical and lifestyle changes; it is an incredibly beautiful time, but can come with many challenges. Women commonly experience postnatal depression and/or anxiety due to a combination of factors such as hormone fluctuations, traumatic birth experiences, relationship stress, and even just from navigating taking care of a newborn.

Thankfully, there is plenty of support available. There are specific postnatal resources, such as support groups and helplines such as PANDA, that you can reach out to. Your GP can also support you.

Listen to the full interview below and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help.

Access the national PANDA hotline at 1300 726 306.
