Maz and Oli Discuss Loss and Support with Eloise From Motherless Daughters Australia

Mother’s Day paraphernalia is EVERYWHERE, and although the premise of Mother’s Day is great, the flashing lights pointing to May 14^th across billboards, social media, advertisements and department stores can be stressful for many. Those experiencing a strained relationship with their mother, are struggling to become a mother, are a mother who’s lost a child or those who no longer have their mum in their lives, can feel suffocated by this time of year, and one organisation which is doing great things to support women in that last category is Motherless Daughters Australia (MDA).

Eloise Hughes and Danielle Snelling met each other and bonded over the one thing no one wants to have in common – they’d both lost their Mums – and formed Motherless Daughters Australia in 2013. MDA runs events and provides resources and support for other motherless daughters across Australia, and is helping women find strength in sharing their stories.

Eloise spoke with Oli and Maz on The Takeover ahead of MDA’s Motherloss Awareness Week from May 7^th-13^th, and shared her own story of motherloss at a young age, which Maz also reflected on, losing her Mum in 2021. Coincidentally, Maz and Oli spoke with Eloise on the same day as Maz’s Mum’s birthday.
