A Killer Return to Racing in Adelaide

Like turning off the ignition, Adelaide and the rest of the world came to a stop in 2020. For the longest time, we couldn’t see our interstate and international friends in person. But now with the return of life, traveling music, the laughter of communal shows and now at long last, the famed Adelaide 500 on the weekend, Adelaide is officially back on track.

With a fresh coat of paint and a new lineup of racing events and live music, this year’s annual 500 event was an enjoyable experience to attend with friends and family.

Now, we must confess that we’re definitely not experts when it comes to cars, but this year’s Supercar Championship line-up had Adelaide’s Good Taste Breakfast’s supercar enthusiast Matt in his absolute element, treated to a pit walk experience that made the two-year intermission of the event seem worthwhile.

For some though – us included – the racing itself wasn’t the main drawcard, but rather the impressive line-up of musical talent, and to be fair who could blame us! This year we were not only treated to Aussie acts like Jimmy Barnes, Amy Shark, The Presets, and fresh from a slew of ARIA award wins, Baker Boy, but we were also lucky enough to see multi-award-winning band The Killers, who rounded out the event with a massive show on Sunday night. Performing all their biggest hits, including ‘Somebody Told Me’ and ‘Mr Brightside,’ these Las Vegas-based rockers were the perfect final act for the four-day return to Adelaide motorsport.

Capitalising on the hype following the closing night, less than 24 hours after The Killers left the stage, the State Government announced that UK music legend Robbie Williams would headline the 2023 Valo Adelaide 500 in late November 2023, which tickets are now open for. What a party we’re in for! Motorsport (and amazing live music) is back, and we’re here for it!
